Southampton, the intended itinerary, March:
Friday 19th: If you could get to Southampton on Friday before 5pm, you may sleep on board a yacht in the Marina at Ocean Village. Plenty of places around for feed.
Saturday 20th: You may need a really early start from the East Midlands to be on time for your course. It will start in Southampton at 0900 and last the whole day.
In the evening: get your evening meal at one of the many shore-side establishments. (We may be able to fix Royal Southampton Yacht Club for you).
Sunday 21st: Find your breakfast locally. Your Radar Instructor will take you into Southampton Water and you will be able to put your new skills and knowledge into practice.
Included in the price: The RYA Radar Course; RYA "An Introduction to Radar", RYA Radar Course Questions and Answer Book, Plotting Sheets, Certification fees; Tea / Coffee & biscuits during the course; a berth on a yacht to sleep in over Saturday night. Your lunch on board the Yacht or RIB on Sunday. A berth on board on Friday, if you are able to arrive before 5pm.
Not included: Travel to and from Southampton (although this will be co-ordinated so that people can share travel); your main evening meal; your lunch on Saturday, your breakfast on Sunday (there is a Tesco Express nearby).
This course is specially arranged for students from the East Midlands, between EM Sailing and "Firstaway Tuition", the training part of Firstaway Yacht Charter, Southampton, which is an RYA recognised training centre.
The course is an RYA "add-on" and to get the best out of it, you preferably have completed the "Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased Course”. Students who have completed "Day Skipper" will also be most welcome. This course is not suitable for novices.
