Explore the south coast of Ireland, perhaps to Cork and Waterford.
Take as much a part in Sailing & Navigating the yacht as you like.
No Sailing qualification required. You do need to wish to go to Sea though!
Two sixty mile passages. Hopefully lots of Dolphins.
Interested in Navigating and Skippering? An opportunity to further your experience. We'll "push you" (with some responsibilities) if that's what you would like.
Leave the yacht in the afternoon of Sunday 16th August 2009.
You can slide a Google Map about with your mouse and change the zoom!
Which Yacht?
Perhaps a JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 42i named
"Lucky T"
Going to Ireland?
Dolphins often in abundance across to Ireland. You will need some Euros for spending but you probably do not need a passport! Fine eating both on board and ashore. You will have to have a Guinness (or a Murphy’s or a Beamish) in a local bar.
Starting from Neyland Yacht Haven, Pembrokeshire, the outline:
Sunday August 9th: We will co-ordinate travel to the marina. You may drive or share space in a car. You will need to get to the charter base at Neyland and be there by 5 pm.
Monday August 10th: If the weather is fair for us, we will cross to Ireland, perhaps an early start. We would hope to make the 60+nM crossing to Kilmore Quay, County Wexford.
Tuesday to Friday: Cruise the south coast, perhaps as far as Cork and come back to Waterford, all weather permitting.
Saturday 15th: Cross from Waterford back to the coast of Wales.
Sunday August 16th: Return the yacht to Neyland Yacht Haven and be clear and clean by 4pm.
Included in the price: Yacht Charter, Yachtmaster Instructor, breakfasts, lunches, Tea/Coffee, soft drinks, four main evening meals planned to be taken aboard.
Not included: Travel to the starting Marina in Wales. Hire of Foul Weather gear, a share of the security /damage deposit, diesel fuel for the yacht, Marina or mooring fees, Alcoholic drinks, Showers ashore, three main evening meals planned to be taken ashore.
Marina fees & Fuel will be shared equally between the crew. It should be assumed that any other "not included" costs are each individual responsibility.
The yacht will be MCA coded with all the correct safety equipment. No Sailing qualification required or previous experience. Do as much or as little as you like. There are two crossings of 60 miles each, at least ten hours sailing in each one of these.
What is it going to cost?
The berth cost is £469. We may manage to allow you a small discount if you are booking two persons to share a cabin.
To secure your berth
you must pay us a deposit of at least £100 per person or, if the departure date is near: the full-balance; and complete
a berth application form. You can pay us by Cheque or Internet Bank transfer.
This includes all of your meals on board.
To this you would have to add the cost of getting to Wales. Diesel fuel for the yacht (though we will use the sails as
much as we can), Marina or mooring fees, Alcoholic drinks, showers and any meals ashore.
Like to go? We need your commitment and a deposit for this holiday now! Fill out our Booking Form and drop it in the post. You can post a cheque or make a payment by Internet Bank transfer. In either case, in the event that we do not get four people to book for this holiday, we will return your deposit in full.
You may be asked to share a cabin. We may be able to offer you discount if you book two persons together and at the same time, do ask!
