Our Sailing Holidays are of two types, the
popular choice is probably best described as a
"buy a berth" arrangement whereas the
other type is a fully bespoke Sailing holiday best
suited to a family or an established group of friends.
There is no specific area where an EM Sailing
Holiday could not be fixed. We have previously arranged Yacht Sailing
Holidays in all of the following areas: the South
Coast of England; across the English Channel
to France and the Channel Islands; the Clyde; the West Coast of Scotland: The "Hebrides" including Mull
and Skye and down to Islay; out of Saint Malo to explore the North Brittany Coast (of France).
With the experience we have instructing for various Sea Schools and some delivery work, we would be very
comfortable with arranging Holidays in "The West Country", Falmouth, Fowey; South and West Ireland;
and Holland. If there were an area you would like us to arrange a Yacht Sailing Holiday in, drop us a line.
Great "Buy a Berth" Holidays
Our Sailing holidays enable individuals, couples
or a small group of friends, to experience a
Yacht Sailing Holiday Cruise, escorted by a qualified professional Yachtmaster.
Perhaps you are experienced at sailing a Dinghy
and want to find out what it's like on a "big
boat". The Yachts we use will normally be in
the range of 30 to 50 feet in length and be able to
sleep from four persons up to twelve, in comfort.
Maybe you have completed a RYA training course
within the "Cruising Scheme". But whether
you have not even attempted "Competent
Crew" or you have completed your Offshore
Yachtmaster Examination, you will be welcome to join
one of our Sailing Holidays.
If you've not yet been to Sea in a yacht and wonder if a whole week
could turn out to be hell, we would recommend you try one of our
"taster" weekends first.
A qualified skipper goes with you. His number one
priority is your safety, as we have to accept that
this type of activity holiday involves risk. His job
is to minimise the risk. To enable you to enjoy
sailing the yacht without getting into danger. He
may have "local knowledge" and this will
be invaluable (for example) when you want to go ashore for a meal.
Your skipper will be properly UK qualified for
Commercial Sailing meeting the requirements of the
Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and the Royal Yachting Association
(RYA) and will be used to having inexperienced crew on board.
If you know how to Sail a yacht, that's fine. Equally
fine if you do not!
If you think you could Navigate, but perhaps
feel a bit rusty, or just need practice, your
skipper will give you the help you ask for or else
just keep an eye on things so you don't get into
trouble.
Your skipper will help you with Pilotage or
applying the "Rules of the Road"
correctly, in fact any aspect of sailing the yacht.
He might make a cup of Tea for you, but it is
important that you understand that our skipper will
not be "waiting" on you, he is not going
to cook all your meals and serve them. That is not
what he is on board for. He is also not there to
"clean up" after you.
Problem with one of our "Links"? If you receive an "error" or
an entirely blank page when you click on one of the active links, it is possible
that you do not have the programme "Acrobat Reader" installed.
If you already have Acrobat Reader and you get a blank page instead of one of our booking forms, you are not alone.
There are compatability problems if you are an AOL user, or with some versions of Internet Explorer or Netscape
Navigator. Here is a good webpage with a method to overcome this problem.
The List of Holidays is not here, it is located on our "Sailing & Training" page. Go to
the top of this page to find thebutton. Holidays are marked on that page with a Green Star.
Special Bespoke Sailing Holidays - Made to measure Holidays
For a Family to take a Sailing holiday together,
or a group of friends we do things a little
different.
At the minimum we are going to Charter a yacht
and fix up a skipper for you.
You tell us where you would like to Sail and when
you want to go. We give you a very rough price based
on our experience. If this sounds OK, we try to find
and reserve a suitable yacht and a qualified skipper.
We may be able to get a discount for you on the
Charter price. We'll agree with you the basis upon
which your skipper will be fed and then determine
how much the skipper is going to cost. We will add
this to the discounted Charter price and send you an
Invoice for the holiday.
Your skipper will be hoping that you and the rest
of your crew will want to take a part in sailing the yacht. He may manage to, but he is going to have a lot of work,
if he has to sail the yacht single-handed.
Your skipper is certainly not on board to "wait" on you.
That is not to say that he will not take a part in preparing food and
drinks for you but it is not really his job to do that.
Any Sailing holiday, in any location, perhaps will always be the right
mixture of eating on board and ashore
(so that at least you get a "taste" of the local cuisine. That "mix" is
largely up to you, with some groups wanting to maximise their shore
experiences and others wanting to minimise their shore-side expenditure.
You have to tell us how you see your skipper's meals fitting into your holiday.
If you decide that you intend to pay for your skippers meals ashore, when you eat
ashore, then clearly that effects how we see the cost of providing your skipper.
Fixing up food supplies (which on a yacht we call victuals)
and a menu is something we do all time. If the order is large enough, we may arrange to have it delivered direct to
the yacht. We may be able to find a hostess or a cook/chef, if you want us to do that.
What do I do next?
You need to rough out a plan: where do you want to cruise, when and for how long?
How many in your group? Do you have an idea of what sort of yacht you want to cruise
on? Where will you be coming from and where to after?
When we have your rough plan, we will try to put a rough price together. We will
tell you what we think will be included and what will not. We will make you aware of
any special conditions for that particular holiday. We may suggest a payment plan. We will
advise you of our thoughts about your rough plan. We may ask you to pay a nominal fee, for our work in the next stage.
You will be able to firm up your plan as a result of our input and make that nominal payment to
us. We will now try to secure the right yacht and skipper for you. At the same time, we will cost
the little things you would like us to do for you, perhaps a taxi from the Airport, or whatever.
All well, we should now be in a position to quote you a firm price, or, at least if there were
"ifs and buts" involved, we would be able to quantify them.
As your Sailing holiday becomes a reality, you will ultimately Charter the yacht
with the Charter company, (with the advantage of any discount we may have negotiated for you)
and with us providing the named skipper.
Need more information? Send us your rough plan by E-mail, with your name and address etc.
